The Buffalo Island Central girls golf team claimed their fifth straight 2A-3 District Tournament Championship today at the Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Batesville, Ark.

The Mustangs tabbed a team score of 324 to take first place in the tournament. Rector finished second with a score of 376, followed by third place McCrory with a score of 402 and Palestine-Wheatley took 4th with a score of 450.

Leading the way individually for the Mustangs was Hallee Wells who shot a 96, securing the medal in the 2A-3 District Tournament. Kendra Towell posted a 112 and an illness-recovering Hadlie Goodson slated a 116 to round out the team score of 324. Anistyn Bryeans posted a 140 in her freshman debut as a first-time tournament participant.

“I left the bad shots in the past and moved on to the next hole.” Wells remarked when asked about her medalist round today. “I just tried to have fun. It was a blessing to wake up today and play golf. I try to preach this to our team and I feel like it’s helped our team success, on and off the course.”

The Mustangs return to the course on Tuesday, September 26th at 9:00am at Glenwood Golf Course and Resort in Glenwood, Arkansas to play for the 2A State Tournament Championship.
