The Buffalo Island Central girls golf team finished third in a field of eleven at the 2A Girls State Golf Tournament last Tuesday at Glenwood Golf Course and Resort in Glenwood, Arkansas.

The Mustangs secured third place on a tough course with a team score of 344, edging out St. Joseph’s score of 345 by just one stroke. Parkers Chapel finished second with a team score of 271 while Horation claimed the 2A Girls State Title shooting a 262.

Hadlie Goodson carded a 103 to lead the way for the Mustangs, missing an all-state selection by three strokes. Halle Wells shot a 115, Kendra Towell shot a 126 and Anistyn Bryeans shot a 132 to complete the team scores. The Mustangs improved upon their fourth place finish in the Fall of 2022.

The third place finish at the 2A Girls State Golf Tournament concludes the season for the Mustangs. Senior Hallee Wells leaves the team as a four year golfer and received medalist honors in her last district tournament. Hadlie Goodson, Kendra Towell, and Anistyn Bryeans will return to the links in the Fall of 2024.
